“Hi, I'm Emily Veldman!
A Los Angeles-based artist and illustrator whose colorful, narrative-driven work across painting, sculpture, and mixed media is rooted in my experience living with Generalized Anxiety Disorder — building visual sanctuaries where yarn becomes furniture, felt becomes food, and imagined worlds filled with personified animals and whimsical textures offer a gentle, playful contrast to the chaos anxiety can create. These aren't just escapist spaces — they're alternate realities where anxiety doesn't dictate the terms, and where I hope viewers find their own small moment of calm, delight, or recognition. Ultimately, my work is about care: for self, for others, and for the imaginative inner worlds that help keep us afloat.”
