“Hi, I'm I'm Zoee Xiao!
A painter working primarily in watercolor and acrylic, where I blend the minimalist elegance of Eastern aesthetics with the bold, colorful expressiveness of Western styles. I was born and raised in a small southern town in China, where I first learned to paint under the guidance of a sumi-e master, before moving to the United States to study animation at the University of Pennsylvania and later working as a software engineer in the gaming industry. My love for art never faded during those tech years, and in 2022 I left my job to paint full-time. My work draws from childhood memories, reinterpreting them through a fantastical, playful lens to evoke nostalgia and joy, and to invite viewers back to the simplicity and wonder so easily lost in adulthood.”
