“Hi, I'm Jessica!

My collection is drawn from my oil and watercolor paintings — small sections lifted from larger canvases, each one a closer look at something I felt was worth pausing for. I think of every painting as a portrait. Not of a person, but of a peony, a poppy, a flower so familiar you might walk past it without a second glance. I want to give that second glance back to people.

I'm drawn to the quiet architecture of petals, the way light moves through translucent white, the deep almost-black of a flower that refuses to be ordinary. Whether I'm painting the soft blush of a peony or the inky drama of a midnight bloom, I'm studying the same thing — the intricacy nature builds without ever trying to impress anyone.

Through this work, I hope to translate something of nature's peaceful, healing energy onto paper and canvas, and from there, into the everyday spaces where people live. My paintings are my way of bringing the charm of the outdoors a little closer to home.”
