“Hi, I’m Flora Hu!
I work primarily in pen and ink, rendering everyday objects with a precision that borders on obsessive. My recent series focuses on the tools of the bar, each piece drawn in fine, controlled linework on toned paper, where the interplay of dense crosshatching and untouched paper conjures the gleam of glass and the cool weight of steel. I'm drawn to objects that are used with the hands, tools that carry ritual and repetition, and I like the challenge of translating something as fleeting as a reflection or a highlight into a fixed, deliberate mark. It’s about slowing down enough to notice how light falls across a shaker or pools inside an empty glass and that attention is really what my work is about.
